Frequently Asked Questions About Practice Safe Social Workshops:

How will the workshop be delivered?

The workshop is a live interactive training session. Attendees are encouraged to have their laptops, tablets, or smart phones with them to participate. Chris will speak, ask for attendee interaction, provide small group “on the spot” projects, and use a PowerPoint presentation as a base of operations. We provide a digital workshop manual that you can deliver to all the trainees ahead of time.

What all is covered in the workshop?

We have three basic modules in the workshop. These modules can be separated and given to different groups, but we suggest giving the full training to every group. Here are the modules:

  1. Privacy: we’ll show you the 12 biggest privacy mistakes people make and how to correct them. We’ll also cover legal issues and go through the privacy settings on all the major social media platforms so you can control who sees what you post on social media.
  2. Reputation Protection: We’ll help you understand when, where, what and why to post on social media. We’ll also cover the Danger Zones and how to stay away from them.
  3. Personal Branding: This module will show you how to control your online information and be your own media with profiles on the “Fantastic Five” online channels. We’ll also cover how social media is the new resume and how you can build one that will help you get a better job and be a bigger asset to your employer.

What if I only want one or two of the modules in the training?

We can customize a workshop for any group. For instance, you may want your freshmen to have the reputation protection and privacy pieces and save the personal branding module for your upperclassmen. Your coaches or staff may not need the module on personal branding–that is your call.

What do I need to provide for a workshop on my end?

You will need a room large enough to accommodate all your attendees equipped with a wireless internet connection, a projector that can accommodate a Windows-based laptop, a screen, and a PA system, if the venue is large.

How long will the workshop be?

Generally, the basic workshop is 1-2 hours long including Q & A, depending on what your time frame is. We will make the workshop fit your time slot.

Is it possible to book the workshop on a weekend or evening?

Yes. Because student-athletes and coaches have very little free time, booking times revolve around your needs.

How much will the workshop cost?

The price is determined by how many groups will be trained on one site visit.  Ask us about our current pricing discounts by emailing chris@cksyme.org.

What if I want to train our student-athletes to use social media as a promotional platform on behalf of the school?

We will show you how to train and activate a group of student-athletes that can tweet and blog on behalf of your brand, and we guarantee it will increase your fan engagement. We will work with your social media manager to identify and train student-athletes. We will also show you how to set up a branded program of engagement that includes several specific actions designed to promote your trained student-athletes in social media. Ask us how this works by emailing chris@cksyme.org.

Can you help us learn how to legally monitor our student-athletes on social media?

We can show you how to set up a social media monitoring system that is free and legal. It will help you to keep an eye on what your athletes are saying and help identify potential ambassadors for your brand. Ask us how by emailing chris@cksyme.org

What Our Friends Have to Say…

“Chris speaks with knowledge and authority, yet on a level even the social media novice can easily understand. Chris’ expertise in social media ranges from the simple how-to’s when first getting started all the way to how to handle a crisis via social media. She understands the medium and its ever-changing nature. More to the point, Chris is one of the few people atop my list to call if I needed someone to speak on the any social media subject.”
